The CEO of a Fortune 50 mining company (Princess Mines) and one of the most influential global businesswomen, Ariel sat down with us for an interview describing some of the challenges she encountered during her career.

"When I was a little girl, I just loved watching all the heavy mining trucks and equipiment, but being a mermaid made my dreams of operating them nearly impossible.  So I came up with a business plan to achieve that end.

There were two things I needed.  The first was access to a mine.  I'd read about Prince Eric and how his family had vast, unexploited mineral rights.  A strategic marriage to him would provide access to these lucrative resources.  Daddy misunderstood my ambitions as a silly schoolgirl crush, but that really wasn't the case.

Second, I needed legs and feet.  You can't drive a bulldozer or a 400 ton dump truck without them.  Even draglines have foot operated controls.    I contracted with the Ursula as my venture capitalist and technology (well, magic) provider.  Unfortunately, she became greedy, but that's where Prince Eric (MBA) and his mergers and acquisitions expeience came in handy.  He obtained an injunction and finally leveraged a hostile takeover of her operations to prevent her from liquidating all my family's assets.

These days you'll find me as often in the cab of a power shovel as in the boardroom.  Being a CEO who is in touch with day to day operations is what makes the difference in a successful company."
